Overview
Product Description | Mouse Monoclonal antibody [31/01-1H10-4-1-14] recognizes Calcitonin Receptor Mouse anti Human calcitonin recptor antibody, clone 31/01-1H10-4-1-14 recognizes the human calcitonin receptor, a membrane protein with seven transmembrane domains that is coupled to G protein messenger systems. Mouse anti Human calcitonin recptor antibody, clone 31/01-1H10-4-1-14 recognizes an epitope within the cytoplasmic domain that is common to both C1a and C1b human isoforms. Calcitonin receptor is expressed in kidney, central and peripheral nervous systems and on osteoclasts. It is also expressed in a number of tissues during the development of the embryo and may be important in foetal morphogenesis. |

Gene Symbol | CALCR |
Gene Full Name | calcitonin receptor |
Background | This gene encodes a high affinity receptor for the peptide hormone calcitonin and belongs to a subfamily of seven transmembrane-spanning G protein-coupled receptors. The encoded protein is involved in maintaining calcium homeostasis and in regulating osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with variations in bone mineral density and onset of osteoporosis. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Function | This is a receptor for calcitonin. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. The calcitonin receptor is thought to couple to the heterotrimeric guanosine triphosphate-binding protein that is sensitive to cholera toxin. [UniProt] |
