Bioinformation
Background | Type E hepatitis virus (HEV) is transmitted through fecal-oral route. In developing country with hot climate, HEV outbreak is common with a high mortality in pregnant woman. The virus has a 7.6kb positive sense single strained RNA genome enclosed in a capsid without envelope. There are three open reading frames (ORFs) on HEV genome. ORF1 encodes protease, methyl-transferase, helicase and replicase. ORF2 encodes capsid protein. The function of the protein encoded by ORF3 is undefined. |
