GeneID: 84289 Human ING5

Swiss-port # Q8WYH8 Human Inhibitor of growth protein 5

Gene Symbol ING5
Gene Full Name Inhibitor Of Growth Family Member 5
Background This gene encodes a tumor suppressor protein that inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis. This protein contains a PHD-type zinc finger. It interacts with tumor suppressor p53 and p300, a component of the histone acetyl transferase complex, suggesting a role in transcriptional regulation. Alternative splicing and the use of multiple promoters and 3' terminal exons results in multiple transcript variants.
Function Component of the HBO1 complex, which specifically mediates acetylation of histone H3 at 'Lys-14' (H3K14ac) and, to a lower extent, acetylation of histone H4.
Cellular Localization Chromosome, Nucleus
Calculated MW 28 kDa
