Gene Symbol NFIX
Gene Full Name Nuclear Factor I X
Background The protein encoded by this gene is a transcription factor that binds the palindromic sequence 5'-TTGGCNNNNNGCCAA-3 in viral and cellular promoters. The encoded protein can also stimulate adenovirus replication in vitro. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Function Recognizes and binds the palindromic sequence 5'-TTGGCNNNNNGCCAA-3' present in viral and cellular promoters and in the origin of replication of adenovirus type 2. These proteins are individually capable of activating transcription and replication.
Cellular Localization Nucleus
Calculated MW 55 kDa
PTM Isopeptide bond, Methylation, Phosphoprotein, Ubl conjugation
