Bioinformation
Gene Symbol | AMY1A; AMY2A; AMY2B |
---|---|
Gene Full Name | amylase, alpha 1A (salivary); amylase, alpha 2A (pancreatic); amylase, alpha 2B (pancreatic) |
Background | Amylases are secreted proteins that hydrolyze 1,4-alpha-glucoside bonds in oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, and thus catalyze the first step in digestion of dietary starch and glycogen. The human genome has a cluster of several amylase genes that are expressed at high levels in either salivary gland or pancreas. This gene encodes an amylase isoenzyme produced by the salivary gland. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
Cellular Localization | Secreted. [UniProt] |
Calculated MW | 58 kDa |

ARG59664 anti-alpha amylase antibody IHC-P image
Immunohistochemistry: Paraffin-embedded Rat spleen tissue. Antigen Retrieval: Heat mediation was performed in Citrate buffer (pH 6.0, epitope retrieval solution) for 20 min. The tissue section was blocked with 10% goat serum. The tissue section was then stained with ARG59664 anti-alpha amylase antibody at 1 µg/ml, overnight at 4°C.
